Hi John,
It sounds like you're dealing with a common issue with the Keurig Elite where water leaks from the top of the K-cup holder, causing a mess. Here are some steps you can try to fix this problem:
- 1. **Clean the Needles Thoroughly**
- Even though the paper clip trick didn't work for you, it's essential to ensure that both the entrance and exit needles are clear of any coffee grounds or debris. Sometimes, the needles can be stubbornly clogged. You can use a fine needle or a safety pin to carefully clean the holes in the needles.
- 2. **Descale Your Keurig**
- Mineral buildup inside the machine can lead to clogging and cause water to back up. Descaling your Keurig can help remove these deposits. Use a descaling solution or white vinegar:
1. Fill the water reservoir with the descaling solution or a mixture of half vinegar and half water.
2. Run the brew cycle without a K-cup until the reservoir is empty. Discard the water and repeat if necessary.
3. Rinse thoroughly by running a couple of cycles with just water to remove any remaining vinegar taste.
- 3. **Check the K-Cup Holder**
- Remove the K-cup holder and inspect it for any cracks or damages. If the holder is damaged, it may not seal properly, causing water to escape from the top. If you find any damage, you might need to replace the K-cup holder.
- 4. **Inspect the Rubber Gasket**
- There’s a rubber gasket around the top needle (where the water comes out into the K-cup). If this gasket is damaged, misplaced, or has become hard and inflexible, it could cause leaks. Check to see if the gasket is in good condition and properly seated.
- 5. **Ensure Proper Placement of the K-Cup**
- Make sure the K-cup is properly seated in the holder. Sometimes if the K-cup isn't fully pressed down, it can cause water to leak out. Press the K-cup down firmly to ensure it punctures correctly.
- 6. **Check for Obstructions or Misalignment**
- Sometimes, if the K-cup holder or the brew head is not aligned correctly, it can cause water to leak. Make sure everything is seated properly.
- 7. **Try a Different K-Cup**
- Occasionally, the problem could be with the K-cup itself, especially if it’s a generic or refillable cup that might not seal properly. Try using a different K-cup to see if the problem persists.
- 8. **Reset the Machine**
- Unplug the Keurig for a few minutes and then plug it back in. This can sometimes reset the internal settings and fix minor glitches.
- 9. **Contact Keurig Customer Support**
- If none of the above solutions work, there might be a more serious internal issue with your Keurig Elite. Reaching out to Keurig customer support can provide you with further troubleshooting steps, and if your machine is still under warranty, they might offer a repair or replacement.
Hopefully, one of these steps helps you resolve the water leakage issue with your Keurig Elite. Let me know if you need further assistance!

Yes... if you are using a reusable (refillable) K-Cup and your brewer is pouring coffee out badly - missing your mug - splashing and making a mess - leaving grounds in your cup - there is an easy fix on ebay for $5 and it's guaranteed or your money back. Paste this link in your browser:

It drips in warm up cycle...ON PURPOSE. Very irritating, especially if you don't have drip tray in place because last user was a travel mug. Poor design.

We had this happen to 2 of our keurigs at the same time, when the house was dryer. As it turns out, the little silicon topper/seal that is mounted AROUND the upper needle (it makes a seal with the top of the coffee pod) had been compressed / pushed up too high. This was particularly notable using NON-keurig coffee pods. Removing it and pushing it back on to where it's just above the needle hole solves it for a while, but a washer/spacer would work better (3-d printing two of them as I type this).

Mine was clogged at the bottom. I thought the seal on top was the issue so I pressed the lid down more when trying to brew and the pressure pushed out the blockage. I dont suggest doing this, as I did not know the true issue, but something to check also when trouble shooting the problem.
