john, your M1530 has a separate board for that. Part number is M1530USB/DC and it is available at multiple places for around $20. For instructions on how to fix it, check on here or download the service manual for your computer from here.Hope this helps, good luck.

Fixing this issue involves re-soldering the power jack on mother board and I`m afraid it wont be possible with regular soldering iron. I would suggest to take it to some hardware shop and get it fixed because a wrong attempt can may harm your laptop more.

@ david chase, no soldering involved in this repair. The Dell XPS M1530 has a separate board or the DC jack. This repair is well within the capabilities of a DIY'er....review your answers.
