OEM is a bullshit term so ignore it whenever you see it used, by anyone, anytime.
iFixit does not compete on price so it can be assumed that they are offering something of quality.
eBay does compete on price to the lowest common denominator, so assume that "COMMODITY" items on eBay are $@$*, across ALL INDUSTRIES.
NEVER buy "commodity" repair parts on eBay. Random plastic piece that sits over a wifi card, sure. iPhone screen or Macbook battery NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I would buy a part from iFixit before buying it from eBay unless it was an eBay vendor I knew personally. Even then, good companies have their good pile(for their company website and wholesale users) and the $@$* pile(for eBay so they can compete on price). So be careful on eBay.

I bought a new screen from ifixit. To answer my own question, the screen is almost like the original one. The only different, is that the color is actually better. This is the screen you want buy if you want the feeling and look you get from the original screen. The cons are that the screw drivers are not magnetic, and the one to open the two bottom screws does not fit.

I have had the opposite experience with my recently purchased iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 screens. They are both too thick and don't fit flush on the frame, also the iPhone 6 screen works poorly (i.e. the bottom of it does not ready properly).

I just swapped to an ifixit iPhone 6 screen (bought the most complete version), it seems the screen is perhaps a little bit too long as it warps slightly and flexes along the sides in the middle of the screen - either that or it's actually warped itself. It's not flush like the original.
I also got a lighter spot in the upper left corner, seems something is pressing against the screen. So perhaps a metal part or screw there isn't thin enough.
Color is apparently a little different but it seems to work OK.
I guess these are things to expect if you don't swap for an original screen.

My iPhone 6S screen from ifixit is not so great. No auto brightness adjusting anymore, 3D touch doesn't work consistently, and it randomly taps when I'm scrolling. It was 1/3 the cost of Apple replacing it, but I thought I was getting something better than I did. Looking back, I wish I would have just brought it to an Apple Store and paid for a replacement.

I just did a replacement of my iPhone SE and I am very disappointed. I'm not a professional, but I've done several replacements before using a high-quality part provider (which now has supply issues). This is my first time using an ifixit part. The inferior quality was immediately noticeable. The colors are muted and the response time is delayed (scrolling is laggy).
