New battery charging problems on iPod

I have an original ipod 30 GB A1136 and just purchased a replacement battery. I followed your instruction on how to open the case and put in the new battery. It appears that there was no difficulty in following your instructions.

The problems started after I closed the case and I tried to charge the battery. I get a very faint apple logo on the screen which then switches in seconds to a whitish screen and then in seconds back to the apple logo etc. What do I need to do?

tcthomas2, try to reseat the cable. It can go in a little crooked or not deep enough to make proper contact. Also, be aware that the battery connector has a nasty tendency of breaking of the board. Check yours to make sure it is not loose already. When you move the clip that holds the cable in the connector, use a L-shaped paperclip or similar device to pull straight up on the clip. Any bending on an angle can dislodge the connector.
