Well, Susan, maybe today is your lucky day!...
The display can be bought from China suppliers at Ali Express. I checked and found one that is selling the display for US$ 34.88 with free shipping, via China Post Air Mail (delivered between 15 to 26 days) or via DHL, paying an additional fee of US$ 37.89 (delivered between 3 to 7 days).

The screen is glued to the printed circuit board via two-sided tape, forming kind of a frame. Inserting a plastic tool between the display and the printed circuit board and moving it around the borders of the display will make it detach from the circuit board. Check the Kindle 2 tear down guide to see how the adhesive tape is laid behind the display.
Another option, considering that the display is already broken and is not going to be used anymore, is to heat up evenly the front of the display with a hair dryer, while trying to raise the display with the help of the plastic tool. Take care not to heat the whole set up too much, only the display, to soften the adhesive from its back and ease the removal operation.
Hope these tips may help you have your Kindle 2 working again! Good luck!!!

You'd better do the DIY repair if you know the technical skills of disassembly device. Or, you'd better ask help from expert.
