Try resetting the PRAM through Open Firmware:

Boot Mac while simultaneously holding Command+Option+O+F

When at the command prompt type the following:

reset-nvram <Enter>

reset-all <Enter>

The Mac should now reboot into OSX with a reset PRAM.

Also the RAM slot on this machine tends to fail. I would remove the RAM and try rebooting.

The 12" machines do not have PRAM batteries Chris is correct on the 12" not having a battery. Here's Apple article on it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA25911?view...

These machines, just like G3 and G4 iBooks do not use PRAM batteries, they use power from the main battery and a capacitor on the logic board to maintain the clock.

Just to confirm, They do not have a PRAM battery, just like the iBooks.

You are correct---the G4 DVI has a pram battery as do the Aluminum 15" and 17" but not the 12". ralph

Confusing Chris, if it has no battery, why would he look online for someone selling them? You might want to edit this one.

hi,

Mr. Chris

oh, i didn't guess that don't have PRAM BATT.

My machine only have a capacitor on the logic board.

i understood. thank you.

i guess main BATT is down too, so doesn't work...

Sir mayer,

you say not Command+Option+P+R, but Command+Option+O+F.

Ok, i will try.

thank you so much, every one.

I have a similar issue.

Does the booting with command option P + R

not work to reset PRAM with this 12" powerbook ?

I had found that on Apple support pages.

thanks

David
