How to replace a GPS chip?

Hi,

I would like to know how to replace the GPS chip on the Galaxy Nexus. I sent the phone to Samsung and they said it is BER (Beyond Economical Repair) due to corrosive / liquid damage. Everything else works in the phone.

Is it easy to replace the GPS chip in the phone?

wisamalrawi, easy may not be the proper term for it. The GPS IC is soldered to the logic board via a BGA, which is a type of surface-mount packaging used for integrated circuits. BGA packages are used to permanently mount devices such as microprocessors. So unless you have a BGA rework station, the proper grid and the proper IC, as well as plenty of experience, there is no easy about it. Not a DIY'er job....
