Removing the display lid is not advised! Just use the system in [https://svalt.com/blogs/svalt/76622081-laptop-clamshell-setup|Clamshell Mode] using an external keyboard, mouse/trackpad & display.
While the system will appear to run headless you've interfered with the SMC services so the system will be throttled as SMC's expected thermal input will be gone. You also loose the sleep input from the lid sensor as such your battery life will be reduced.
