The hinges on the newer MacBooks are a two piece design, a press fit pin into the lid and a clutch spring which wraps around the pin to offer the friction. Only the clutch side offers the mounting interface to the uppercase.

So… either the screws them selves are loose reference Step 12 in this guide [guide|142554] or the press fit pin has become loose within the lid. Often times the hinges work but the last bit of closure is where you notice it’s a bit loose., that’s a sign the pins have failed which will require replacing the display assembly.
