Do you have access to a small lathe? You will need some rod stock which is slightly larger than the OD of the battery opening. Using the lathe you can shape the rod down emulating what Apple produced. Instead of the coin slot I would create a sizable tang which you can grasp with your fingers.

But you may just find a junker keyboard to acquire the cap or just get a replacement keyboard as these keyboards are quite common and cheap.
