Troubleshooting and fixing replacement laptop battery installation

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Bought a replacement FM08-12pin for my HP Omen laptop because the old battery wasn't charging. It got to the point where I couldn't even run the computer plugged in.

When I installed the new battery, I definitely bent a pin. I gently coaxed it back into place, and I believe they are all fine, but I've never gotten the laptop + battery working. I plug it in to let it charge, but it never seems to charge. My power supply shows 19.5V (which is correct) but my kill-a-watt meter shows it drawing only 0.01-0.04 amp. The led next to the power socket on the laptop lights for a few minutes, then goes out.

I've searched for, but not found, the pinout for this battery.

I'm wondering if the problem isn't even the battery, but the electronics between the power socket and the battery.

Any advice on how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated!
