Let’s backup here a bit this is an Intel system as such you should need the original configurator tool was for managing corporate/school systems, configurator2 is for T1 and ARM based Macs
So while you are trying to reset things PRAM/NVRAM is not what you need to focus on, SMC (System Management Controller) is what you need focus in on. Here we need to disconnect the battery and all other external power & port connections. Now press and hold the power button for a good 15secs to fully discharge the logic board, now reconnect the MagSafe charger the system should spontaneously startup, let it fully boot and then do a clean shutdown.
Not sure if that will fix things here given what you have stated. Ideally you need to check the battery as well as run the onboard diagnostics. That’s the SOP to try to narrow down what the problem is.
Install this gem of an App to check your battery and charger [https://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/|CoconutBattery]
To run diagnostics review this [https://support.apple.com/en-us/102550|Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac]
Let us know what you discover and post a snapshot of the CoconutBattery’s main window here so we can check it out as well.
