I recognize this issue. When 1 of the screens flash and the console goes directly off, means that one of the screens aren't connected properly OR there is a issue with 1 of the screens it's ribbon cable.
In your case, the bottom screen flashed, this means that the issue is in the upper screen. You might want to double check the ribbon cable and make sure it's all the way in (it goes deeper in there then most ribbon cables do). If this is the case for sure, then replace the upper screen to fix the issue (then there is a problem with it's ribbon cable, best to replace the screen completely).
Regarding the orange charging light that goes directly off, could be caused by a bad battery.
