Can I run MacBook Pro without a battery?

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

The replacement battery in my older MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) is failing. It is not yet overheating or swelling. I've researched the replacement process here and concluded that it is more than I care to undertake. I suspect that the replacement battery now in the device was inferior and the guy who replaced it is now out-of-business. I am nowhere near an Apple Store. I now use the machine largely for internet browsing and viewing documents. I have an iMac for more demanding work.[br]

I am, therefor, wondering it would be possible to remove the battery before it creates problems and run the machine via AC power?
