Could something have found it’s way between the uppercase and the display screen? So as you applied pressure on the screws the problem was created.

I’m suspecting some pressure onto the displays screen damaging the vertical signal lines either within the panel or the ribbon cables connecting to the LCD.

Sometimes sliding your finger along the bottom edge of the screen might help.
