Hi,
TLDR; my new battery works, but my computer can't recognize it. What can I do to fix it?
EDIT: It was the battery data cable that also needed to be replaced. Now everything works again!
More info:
I have a late 2020 M1 Macbook Pro (A2338) where the battery stopped working at the beginning of 2021, it only worked with the charger plugged in.
The local Apple repair shop said it was caused by water damage and wanted 1200 dollars to change the battery. Ever since they opened it to take a look, the battery icon has had an X over it, and the machine can't seem to recognize any battery at all. One of the clips was also non-functional, so I wonder if they did a rushed job.
Anyway, since this was a company laptop, my company decided to buy a new Macbook instead. A few weeks ago, I decided to buy an iFixit repair kit and change it myself.
The battery change went well, and I can now use the laptop without having the charger plugged in – which I take as a sign that the new battery is functional.
BUT – the battery icon is still an X, and the software can't seem to recognize it at all. This is, of course, not ideal, as I have no idea how much power is left on the battery when using it. It also seems like the computer shuts off sometimes without the battery actually being empty, but the software thinks it needs to go to sleep.
I did the calibration after the guidelines from the [guide|143286|battery replacement guide|new_window=true]: let it charge fully + 2 hrs, drained the battery (it held up for 5+ hours of looping four 4K videos and rendering several 4K footage in Premiere), and then charged it back up to 100% (I have no idea about actual percentage because it can't be read, but I left it long enough to be sure it was full).
Coconutbattery can't recognize the battery either.
I wonder if it might be the battery data/flex cable? The kit did not include this cable, and when taking a closer look, it looks like there might be some corrosion/damage.
Probably not related, but when I updated to Sonoma 14.1, my fan started going crazy and will not slow down without a third party software.
I've added some screenshots and a photo of the cable. Sorry about it being in Norwegian.
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on what to try?

I wonder if it might be the battery connector cable? The kit did not include this cable, and when taking a closer look, it looks like there might be some corrosion/damage. I can't seem to find a replacement part for this cable, but it might just be bad googling on my part.
