Are you sure the charger is working and in good shape? Inspect the MagSafe connector both the cable and the system is there any dirt? Are the contacts clean and shiny? Take some clear pictures and post them here for us to see.

Your system has a battery checker when you press it do any of the LEDs light up and do they blink?
