Well… that only leaves mold buildup on the defuser sheets or just a worn-out LCD as the liquid crystal material used in these older systems loose there ability to toggle effectively as the areas have a persistence issue as the background image was too static. The last possibility is this series used CCFLs instead of LEDs and they too over time and use wear out.
If you can find a good used display assembly I would just replace it, if not you may need to live with it.

While you can get to the sheets to clean, you may end up with a bigger mess as cleaning can leave streaks which become visible. The CCFL’s are getting hard to find as they hold Mercury vapor. Which just better to replace the assembly.
