Can I open an Apple USB superdrive?

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Hi

I have an Apple USB Superdrive that has a CD stuck in it. None of the usual methods of ejecting the CD work, the drive isn't even recognised by the system. The drive appears to be working because when I use the terminal command to eject it does respond but the CD doesn't pop out. The CD is worth much more to me than the drive itself, I'd be happy to write it off if it means I can get the CD out without damage.

On the underside of the drive there's a large rubber circular closure like the ones on the Mac Mini, but there's no way I can move it. I have one of those little rubber grippers that you remove LED bulbs with, but no spudger (yet). Is this the way to open the drive if I have the right tools?

TIA.
