The only rub is Apple uses their own blade drive design. While it looks similar to what Windows Laptops use Apple did their own thing and I do strongly recommend sticking with the either one of the Apple SSD's or either the [https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/ssd/owc/aura-pro-x2|OWC] or [https://www.transcend-info.com/Products/No-956|Transcend] custom SSD's which are direct plug-in replacement drives. I don't recommend using M.2 with a fangled adapter as these have issues with both the connections and some of the signals Apple has are just not carried into the M.2 SSD as they don't support it. While these do appear to work straight up and serious load over a bit of time tends to show their weakness.
