-As to why I’m guessing you have a anti-vampire power strip which is slowly killing your system [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standby_power|Standby Power] All iMacs leverage a small trickle to hold its settings, even still Mac’s have a backup battery so you don’t loose the settings when moving the system or when you have a power outage. Even still the battery has a life span when you are always using it. The battery has a lifespan of about five years as long as you are still using standby power.
