I found a solution to my problem. HP splits the controls for SureView and the screen - they're not tied together but the matrix has the SV option added for quick control. If you install a non SV screen and it doesn't work, you need the hotkey driver.
-Now to find a way to mask the screen printing that isn't a glob of black nail polish if possible… It will be obvious since I have the backlit keyboard.
