There is no eject of the drive unlike an external HDD or SSD as the file system is not cached within the systems RAM and need to be written back before ejecting.

Now with that said, there is one issue! If you are the middle of writing a optical disk, you want to eject the disk before disconnecting the optical drive. If you are working with bought CD’s or just reading from ones you created you can disconnect the drive at any time. You won’t hurt the drive or the disk.
