Sadly, you have a [link|https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/catch-22|Catch-22] problem!
You can’t go forward until you fix your system. Let me explain…
* Without a working display you can’t tell what’s happing. internally as you need to run diagnostics as the dongle for some reason won’t let you run the system via the charger.
* The costs of repair maybe more than what a replacement system would cost!
* Likewise you can’t gain access to the system to backup your stuff via TimeMachine.

I sorry you are in a tough spot here, there is no easy out.

I’m sorry you are in a tough spot here, there is no easy out.
If you can find another 12” MacBook of the same series (2015) you might be able to swap over the display so you can recover your data off of it and then put back the display onto the working system where you then migrate your stuff over. I’ve seen some working used systems go for $400 USD where a replacement display is $50 more!
Be aware these are not easy systems to service! Review this guide [guide|44274]. You’ll also need access to a 5-Watt iPhone charger and a USB-C to USB-A cable.
