MacBook 12" 2015 - Display and battery dead

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Hi Guys,

It has been few months now that my battery and my display died on my MacBook.

The display is fully cracked due to falling on the ground and the battery was only running when power adapter was plugged in, the system would turn off instantly as soon as the power adapter was unplugged.

So I was using it as a desktop computer with an official Apple Multi-port dongle adapter (since there is only one USB-C port on these), plugging the HDMI to an external screen and the power to the USB-C port of the adapter.

But now I have a weird thing going on.

The system will only turn on if the power adapter is plugged into the MacBook’s USB-C port directly (it turns on and stays on but can’t see anything as the display is broken), but when I plug the power adapter into the multi-port adapter, it permanently shows the red dead battery signal, as if the multi-port was draining power and won’t let go through enough power to turn it on…

I have to say that i lost my job with pandemic, so replacing battery or screen is impossible for me now but i’d need it to work cause it was a revenue source.

I know i’m asking for the moon :)

Does anyone has an idea of what could be done to use it again as desktop computer ?

Or, at least, is there any tutorial to recover the data from the SSD ? (didn’t find any on the website)

Thanks for your replies :) [br]
