The content should all still be there, just be careful once you have changed the battery and it should turn on. Once you plug the phone into the computer, iTunes may recognize it as a new/restore phone and try to sync it. Get a program like Copypod or similar which will allow you to remove the content of the phone without syncing etc. and turn auto sync in iTunes OFF. Good Luck

Rhe other thing I would try first is to charge the battery with an AC wallcharger. It is possible that your battery is below the threshold for a USB charger to charge it. Good Luck
