They use a TO-220 MOSFET inside with a terribly small heatsink and a small glueless mating surface between the MOSFET and the heatsink with a loose rivet. The MOSFET can get too hot and blow (small puff of smoke, sparks…etc.) I just ran into this myself. I’m going to have to desolder the MOSFET(s, there is a second one beside the TO-220) and put them on a better heatsink, properly mated as well. …Conveniently a month after the warranty expires.
