Hello all, I am planning to replace the thermal paste on my MacBook Pro 2015 15” model that I recently bought. I noticed today that there is a very small but still noticeable misalignment between the lid and the main body of the MacBook. Essentially the lid is slightly retracted compared to the main body at the front and overhangs a tiny amount at the back. This is a very minor issue but I thought I might as well fix it whilst opening it up to reapply thermal paste.
My question is how exactly would I do this? There is already the guide [guide|55925|here] that shows how to replace the top assembly, however all I want to do is realign it. I saw a YouTube video earlier where the guy undos all three hinge screws on either side, makes sure the lid and main body are flush again, and simply tightens up the screws. Would this be sufficient? The guide says you need to undo several connectors, however as I am not actually removing the lid does this need to be done or can I simply open up the back, undo the screws, realign and put it back together again?

I have exactly the same problem with my MacBook Air 2018 Retina.
-
-
The lid is not perfectly aligned after I had my screen replaced by Apple. Service guy could not align it properly. I mean it is working and maybe only cosmetic issue but its distracting me.
-
-
Could you do the alignment with only loosening 3 hinge screens ?
-
-
Due to technical problem my MacBook air 2018 retina screen has been replaced by apple. The person who fixed this could not make the lid perfectly aligned with the body and it is about half a millimeter leaning left.
-
-
It is not effecting the functionality but you feel it when you touch with your fingers.
-
-
I do not want to resend it to apple as I think they will accept to repair since its a very minor cosmetic issue.
-
-
I want to align this myself, I watch screen replacement videos but there are too many steps I believe unnecessary for only alignment.
-
-
Can I just loosen the 3 hinge screws, align it and tight them and close it ? without playing with cables or battery or wifi ?
