-I would leave your mac mini alone here. Instead connect a second Mac system to your mini in Target Disk Mode to copy off your iTunes library to a newer MacOS system. The problem you face here is finding the correct iTunes which supports your iPhone 7 that will run on El Capitan. I would rather work off a second system with a copy Vs running the risk of loosing everything.
