I have been to an independent repair shop, I was there for another reason, but I asked the guy their if it’s OK to put a SATA caddy in place of optical drive to hold a SSD. He said no because my motherboard will start to slowly degrade. Is it true?

P.S.: I have a 256 GB Samsung EVO 860 I want to put in as I still have the 512 GB HDD from this system, thats why I’m asking.
