How do I fix the controller driver?

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

I am having an issue with my Xbox wireless receiver in Windows 7 x64 (Pro, if it matters). When I connect my controllers in my fleet I still use (Repaired 1708 and new backup 1708) I cannot control my games with either of them. I can confirm this happens on both my 1708 controllers. I tested my mostly neglected Model 1697 controller as well, and it still happens. It's not a 1708 problem; it happens on all of my controllers.

I went into Device Manager and found a Code 54 error for my controller. I uninstalled and removed the driver, but the controllers no longer register. I did not restart my computer when I made this change, since this typically isn't required. I need the control to register to install the drivers from, so I need to at least get the controllers working as unknown devices so I can go into Device Manager and reinstall the driver from scratch. I also tried USB since I don't care about the receiver in this application, but I still didn't get anywhere.

Is there anything I can try to fix this to the point I can get Device Manager to show my controller again so I can reinstall the driver and get it working again? It works on my other computer running Windows 7 x64, so the problem is isolated to one PC.
