Is it possible to update 2017 iMac 27" 5k with NMVe m.2 SSD using m.2 to Apple PCIe adapter?
I used to use SM951 AHCI in Mac Pro 5.1, 6.1, all Retina and Air 2013-2015 but what about NVMe once? Have anyone tried?

Why is this the chosen answer? It's not correct info for the mid-2017 iMac. Many people have their M.2 drives working at 4x speeds, and properly detected as a NMVe drive. I posted pics in another post on this thread.

Any unreliability (on this model) is mainly due to the shield shorting out to the adapter header. Again check out my post at the bottom.

I just replaced my original small Apple SSD with a 970 EVO M.2 2TB drive. It's detects as a 4x NMVe in system information and benchmarks as a 4x NMVe drive.
