Is it possible to update 2017 iMac 27" 5k with NMVe m.2 SSD using m.2 to Apple PCIe adapter?
I used to use SM951 AHCI in Mac Pro 5.1, 6.1, all Retina and Air 2013-2015 but what about NVMe once? Have anyone tried?

-Why is this the chosen answer? It's not correct info for the mid-2017 iMac. Many people have their M.2 drives working at 4x speeds, and properly detected as a NMVe drive. I posted pics in another post on this thread.
-
-Any unreliability (on this model) is mainly due to the shield shorting out to the adapter header. Again check out my post at the bottom.

-I just replaced my original small Apple SSD with a 970 EVO M.2 2TB drive. It's detects as a 4x NMVe in system information and benchmarks as a 4x NMVe drive.
