Hard to tell from what you've stated here. I would pop off the bottom cover and inspect the display connector as seen here:

You'll want to follow the IFIXIT guide: [guide|4512|MacBook Air 13" Late 2010 Display Assembly Replacement]. Go through Steps 1 thru 3, then jump down to Step 20. Is the connector have any corrosion or  the wire locking bale not seated?
