Review this IFIXIT guide on what it will take to open your system and take the Lid assembly off: [guide|3574|MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2009 LCD Replacement]. Here we need to get to the back side of the case (behind the LCD) as I suspect the screws which hold the mid frame have either loosened up or striped the holes. If stripped you can use some urethane foaming glue the mid frame to the cover.
