@bronzeknight, my guess is that your storage disk needs a clean up. I would start there as it can't hurt.
Start "Disk Utility," select your partition (you have the main drive and the partition underneath it), and click on "First Aid" then "Repair Disk" or if not directly allowed, start with "Verify Disk."
After that is done, perform "Repair Permissions" and repeat both repairs of disk and permissions to make sure the process is now shorter, meaning some clean-up did occur.

Even better (or in case repair fails), restart your computer in "Restore Mode" by pressing and holding "Command + R" during restart. Then choose "Disk Utility" and choose the above. What happens? Does space increase?
