I did this upgrade this last weekend for a customer. True it is a PITA. It was the first time into one of these glue job machines for me. The whole thing took me about 3 hours but I was being very careful. Only Apple makes the mSATA card for the machine and they wanted $950 for the 256 and $1350 for the 512K. The RAM upgrade ran just under $200. My question is WHY? Why do you think you need that much RAM and if you can use it, why don't you have a MacPro? [guide|28795]
