After turning on your Kindle 10, if the screen does not respond to the user’s finger swiping, or the screen remains blank after turning on the Kindle, follow this troubleshooting guide.
Kindle Requires Restarting
Sometimes the software may be stuck on something. Hold the power button for 15 seconds, your Kindle will restart without needing to tap anything on your screen.
Low Battery
It is possible that the unresponsive screen is due to low battery. Plug in your Kindle for at least 30 minutes and then try restarting again.
Screen Protector Interference
The unresponsive screen could also be due to a screen protector interfering with the touch screen. To check if this is the case, remove the case and screen protector to test it and see if your kindle responds.
Outdated Software
Your Kindle's screen could also be unresponsive due to outdated software. Try updating your Kindle to the latest version.
If you are still able to use the screen momentarily, go to settings menu, tap device options, then device info to view your current version.
Return to the settings menu, tap menu, then Update Your Kindle. If this button is grayed out, your kindle is already up to date.
If you are unable to use the screen at all you must connect your Kindle to a computer using a USB cable. Go to the Amazon Kindle Software Updates Page on your computer and then transfer the downloaded update file to the root directory of your Kindle.
