Doesn't power on.
Laptop does not power on when power button is pressed.
Depleted battery/Not Charged Fully
Make sure the laptop is charged or at least connected to an AC Adapter and try pressing the power button again. Check both the functionality of the charger and outlet.
First, press and hold the power for at least 15 seconds. After that if laptop doesn’t turn back on, take out and re-install the battery back into the Toshiba Satellite L40-A and connect it to the charger. Press the power button once again.
Unable to charge.
Laptop does not charge upon being plugged in to charger.
Faulty Charger Connection
Remove and connect the AC adapter charger to the laptop again, and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds. If you want, you may try booting your laptop once again once turned on.
Battery Pack is not Installed Right
Remove the battery from the laptop, and place it back properly, making sure its all in place. Connect it back to an AC Adapter and press the power button once again.
Will not reboot.
The laptop does not reboot upon being prompted.
Ram and Battery may not be placed correctly
Take out the battery pack from the laptop and RAM if possible. Dust it off and place it back correctly. Then try turning the laptop back on and force the reboot.
DVD player does not work.
DVD player does not open when button is pressed.
Drivers are not updated
Go to settings or device manager in the DVD/CD section and check for any flags or warnings, then check to see if there are any updates available for the DVD player.
Lens are not Clean
Clean the DVD/CD reading lenses gently with a little bit of alcohol, slide it back in, and reboot if possible, then check again.
Keyboard does not respond.
Keys do not respond to being pressed.
Enable the Keyboard
Open device manager/settings and click on the "Keyboard" section, right click the Toshiba keyboard and select enable device.
Restart the computer
Turn off the laptop, take out the battery, and boot the laptop back up.
Clean the Keyboard
May not seem like a lot, but the keyboard might be dusty and dirty and one quick clean might fix the problem and connections with the keys.
Keyboard is not updated
Check if the device manager has any updates available for the keyboard.
