Sony BDP-SX1000 will not power on
The Sony BDP-SX1000 does not respond to powering up or does not show signs of being charged.
Faulty AC Adapters
Make sure the charge light is on when the Sony BDP-SX1000 is being charged. The adapter is faulty if charge light is not turned on. The charge light is supposed to be orange in the front charge indicator when Sony BDP-SX1000 is being charged. Also, make sure that the voltage and current outputs of the AC adapter match the requirements for Sony BDP-SX1000. The voltage output for the AC adapter should be 110-240 V. The flashing charge indicator means that the Sony BDP-SX1000 needs to be charged. If it continues flashing while AC adapter is connected, then either AC adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced or the ambient temperature is not appropriate. The ambient temperature needs to be between 41 degrees Fahrenheit and 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
Faulty Battery
If Sony BDP-SX1000 only powers on when the AC adapter is connected to it no matter how long the charging time, then the battery is faulty. The battery needs to be replaced.

Error message appears saying Disc not Read.

Try cleaning the disc. If the issue persists. try using another disc. If other disk does not work, the issue may be with the player rather than the disc itself.

Open the lid of the player and clean the laser. Using isopropyl alcohol swab a wet cloth and rub the laser lens gently in circular motions. If the disc continues not to be read after the laser has been adequately cleaned, the laser should be replaced.

The disc is not spinning.
Ribbon Cable lose
Disc might not spin because ribbon cable which makes the DVD spin inside the DVD player has either gotten lose or is broken. You can open the DVD player and replace the ribbon cable.
Spindle motor had bad contact
Another reason is that the spindle motor had a bad contact. This might be due to a faulty motor driver chip or circuitry. You can solve this problem by replacing the spindle motor.
Dirty Laser lens
Clean the laser lens gently with a blower brush if you see dust on them.
Player doesn't respond to remote
The DVD player doesn’t respond to the remote control.
Faulty batteries
Check the remote battery. To make sure the remote is working, point it at a cell phone camera and press any button on the remote. Through the cell phone camera, you should see a light flashing from the infrared transmitter at the end of the remote. Other than that, make sure you are pointing the remote directly at the sensor at the front of the DVD player.
