If your Shark Navigator Lift-Away Pro NV356E V5 does not suck up dirt and debris, read the following steps to recognize and resolve the problem.
Faulty Brush-roll Motor
Frequent use of the vacuum can lead to hair build up on the brush roll. The brush roll is designed to agitate the surfaces to pick up debris better which leads to hair being trapped in the roll. If the motor is not functioning at full power, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Pro may experience a loss of suction. This can be caused by overheating, clogged filters, or internal motor wear. The motor can be taken out and replaced.
Broken Hose
A loss of suction in the vacuum can be caused by a damaged hose. The vacuum hose can pick up long strands of hair and become tangled, leading to lower suction. The hose can also get cracks or holes due to wear and tear. Some cracks may even be barely visible. However, this hose can be replaced and is an easy part to find on Amazon or from Shark.
Clogged Filters
The vacuum may not be picking anything up because the filters are not being routinely cleaned every 3 months. These filters can be rinsed in water and air dried or replaced by buying a pack of filters.
Full Dust Cup
A full dust cup will prevent the vacuum from picking up any more debris. It should be emptied by undoing the latches and emptying the cup in a trash can. For further cleaning, wipe the dust cup with a towel.
