If your Shark ION RV754 robot vacuum has trouble steering properly—causing it to move in the wrong direction or bump into objects—check this troubleshooting page for possible solutions.
Electronic Error
As with many electronics, the robot may not be steering simply due to an electronic error. Power the robot off using the power switch, wait a few minutes, and then turn the robot back on.
Sensors May Be Dirty
Most of the robot’s steering capacity depends on the multiple sensors it has.
1) Using a microfiber cloth, gently wipe the front contact sensor on the front face of the robot. This should look like a curved, smooth strip.
2) Flip the robot upside down and locate the cliff sensors. These should look like small rectangular slits, 2 located to the front-right and front-left of the swivel head and 2 on either side of the 2 main wheels.
3) Use a can of compressed air electronics cleaner to spray debris out of the sensors.
Swivel-Head is Broken
If the above solutions have not worked, then the swivel head itself may need to be replaced. Follow the steps in the guide here: Shark ION RV754 Caster Wheel Replacement
