Sceptre X9 Komodo VII Troubleshooting

If the monitor does not turn on,

First, unplug the power cable form the power outlet for one minute then plug it back. If the monitor still does not power up, check that the power cable is connected to both the power outlet and the back of the monitor. If the monitor still does not want to power up, the motherboard or the power supply unit needs to be replaced.

If none of the buttons produce any sort of action, the capacitors are likely blown and need to be replaced. If only certain buttons do not work, it is probably a broken button and it needs to be replaced.

The monitor fails to detect the computer and displays no images.

The source of the problem may not lie with the monitor. Check if there might be a problem with the connected computer. To test this, plug the VGA cable into another monitor. If the second monitor also fails to receive a signal, then the source of the problem may be the computer. However if the second monitor receives a signal from the same computer, the monitor may not be functioning correctly. Continue troubleshooting if the source of the problem is the monitor in question.

If the VGA cable is not connected properly, the monitor may fail to receive a signal from the computer. Make sure the VGA cable is firmly connected to the monitor and to the computer by securing the cable on both ends. In the case that the VGA cable is defective, try connecting to the monitor with another VGA cable.

If the driver for the monitor is not installed on the computer, the monitor may not receive a signal. Try unplugging the VGA cable from the monitor or the computer and reconnect the cable. The computer may detect the monitor and automatically install the required drivers. If the computer does not install the drivers automatically, manually run “update device drivers” from the computer's the start menu.

A damaged graphics card may cause no signal to be received by the monitor. If this is the case, the computer's graphics card may need to be replaced.

The monitor image are not displayed.

If there is no image displayed on the screen, check that the power light is on (light is green). If the light is not on, press the power button until an image is displayed. If the light is orange/yellow the monitor may be asleep. Move the mouse or press any key.

If the image is not displayed properly, check that the cables are connected firmly, if not there may be a problem with the VGA cable.

If the image is too dim or bright, it can be automatically adjusted with the auto adjust button , which should adjust your image to default setting. If the image is not proper, you can adjust it with the brightness control “+” and the contrast control “-” until you reach your desired setting.

Broken liquid crystal display (LCD) will cause for the image not to be displayed properly. If this is the issue the liquid crystal display needs to be replace.

The speakers are not producing any sound.

If the volume is mute or turned down on the computer, there will be no sound from the speakers. Check the volume level in the task bar, at the lower right of the computer desk top.

If there is no sound coming from the speakers, the speaker input to the monitor from the computer may be disconnected. Looking at the monitor from the backside, there should be a single pin cable plugged into the mint green speaker input. If it is missing, plug in the cable. If it is plugged in, try unplugging and plugging in the cable.

Damaged speakers will cause no sound to come from the speakers. If this is the case, the speaker(s) may need to be replaced individually or as a pair.

A damaged or bad motherboard could cause no sound to come from the speakers. This is the same motherboard as the power supply board. Find a guide to replace the power supply board here.
