Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 WiFi Isn't Connecting

Confirm that the WiFi setting is switched into the ‘on’ position.

• Toggle the Airplane Mode setting on and off. This can be done by swiping down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Settings panel, then tap the Airplane mode (or Flight mode) icon to turn it on.
• Confirm that the router isn’t the issue by cross-checking between devices and WiFi networks.
• Reboot the device. The way to do this is by pressing and holding both the power button and the volume down button simultaneously for about 7-10 seconds. The Samsung logo will appear, then release both buttons to allow the tablet to restart.
• Disconnect (forgetting) and reconnecting to the desired WiFi network.
• Reset network settings: Deletes all saved WiFi and Bluetooth connections. Done by going to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset network settings.
• If all else fails, using a hard reset (reset to factory settings) to ensure the connectivity is not related to the internal software. Make sure you have all information backed up before doing this; a hard reset will erase all data.

Hardware failure may be the case if the tablet is completely unable to find any active networks.

• If the WiFi switch within the settings is grayed out and cannot be turned on, including after restarts, it points towards hardware failure.
• If the connection is failing (i.e. constant dropped signal, “Connection Failed” error messages) after software fixes, this is another clue towards hardware failure.
• In the case of hardware failure, the WiFi adapter chip is soldered directly onto the main logic board of the device. This means that DIY approaches become significantly more difficult without the aid of professionals/professional knowledge & tools.
