The Device Won’t Power Up
‘‘Your device won’t turn on.’’
Lack of Power
The simplest solution is to put the device to charge for at least 15-20 minutes. Once charged, attempt to power on by pressing and holding the power button for approximately 10-15 seconds.
Soft Reset Necessary
Try a soft reset of the device to see if the phone will recover. Simply, remove the battery and replace after 10 seconds.
Faulty Charging Cable
If you have another Samsung device or a third party Android phone, try to use its USB cable and charger and see if that will charge your device. Many times, a bad charging cable or adapter could be the reason your device won’t charge.
Defective Battery
Replacing the battery is simple. Remove the back cover of the phone and simply take the battery out. If you know someone with the same phone, try using the battery from that phone and see if your phone will power on. If you don’t have access to another J7 battery, try to visit local phone stores and see if they will let you use a working J7 battery. Avoid buying a new battery outright as you don’t have a way of knowing conclusively if it’s a battery issue.
Defective Charging Port
A sign that a charging port may be broken is a bent pin inside the socket. If you have access to a magnifying tool, use that to inspect the socket. Any dirt or bent pin can be the reason why the phone no longer charges the battery. Avoid sticking something inside the port as that can further damage other pins. If the port is damaged, you should consult a professional on how to address it.
