Samsung BD-JM57C Will Not Open Disc Tray
Samsung Blu-ray player will not open to insert or remove the disc.
Power is Not On
The remote may be out of battery life. Change the batteries and if the problem persists, try to manually open the disc drive by pushing the button on the device. If that still does not work, check to see if there is any power going to the device itself.
The problem may be that the Blu-ray player is not plugged in. Or that the power outlet it is plugged into may not have any electricity going to it. Check another outlet to see if this is the case.
Dealer Lock or Child Lock Engaged
The Samsung BD-JM57C has a built-in dealer or child locks for when they are on display at the store. The lock may be engaged and this will prevent the tray from opening. To deactivate this feature you have to press the stop button on the front panel and the power button on the remote simultaneously for four seconds with the power on. Repeat if necessary.
Information on how to deactivate the Dealer lock can be found here.
Factory Rest Samsung BD-JM57C
Sometimes to get a device to work properly, it just needs a factory reset. Press and hold the Stop button on the panel until your TV displays the message "Reset all settings to the default values." After a few seconds, the device will turn itself off and back on as well as reset itself.
For more in-depth description follow the reset directions directly from Samsung.
Power Cord not Working
DVD Player will not turn on.
Device Not Plugged In
The cord may have accidentally become disconnected from the wall or removed to make space for other devices. Make sure it is plugged into the wall outlet or power strip; if you are using a power strip, make sure it is powered on.
No Power to Outlet
If you are trying to use a wall outlet, try connecting other devices such as a phone charger that will immediately show you if the outlet is receiving power. If it doesn’t, try restarting the outlet, if you do not know how to try using this guide or others you find the internet.
If this still doesn’t resolve your problem, try using another outlet.
Damaged Cord
If your cord has exposed wire or is twisted, it may be time to replace the cord entirely.
Cord Not Properly Connected
If the power cord coming out of the back of the device is not secured correctly and there are no obvious problems with the cord casing, you will have to open the Blu-ray player. This will give you access to the connection from the wire to the circuit board where you can reconnect it.
Not Connecting to Wi-Fi
The device will not connect to the internet.
Network Connection is Not Working
If your network connection isn’t working, you may have trouble using streaming apps. If you are experiencing this, go to Settings > Network > Network Settings > Wireless. Then choose your network and input any password. Hit Done then OK when finished.
USB Device is Not Connected to Blu-Ray or Doesn’t Have Space
Make sure that the USB device has at least 1 GB of free memory in the BD Data Management window.
Blu-Ray Player Doesn’t Have Permission to Join the Network
Check if Blu-Ray Live Internet setting is set to “Allow”.
Replace the WiFi Adapter Card
This should only be attempted after all other options have not worked. If the WiFi adapter card is damaged or outdated (for example, it doesn’t support modern 5GHz wireless connections), then the only option is to replace it entirely.
Player Not Reading External Device
Ports connected to Motherboard not responding
Faulty USB port
If the USB is not properly connected to the motherboard, the device you’re trying to connect to the Blu-ray player will not connect. To ensure the USB port is attached to the motherboard inspect all connections on the motherboard and make sure the USB port is secure.
Open Button Will Not Budge
The physical open disc drive button on Samsung BD-JM57C is broken or jammed and will not work.
Open Button is Jammed or Sticky
The open disc button on the Blu-ray player is either broken, jammed, or sticking. The button either needs to be cleaned if it is jammed due to dirt build-up or replaced if it is broken entirely. If it is just jammed due to dirt build-up remove dust and debris with an air can or a damp rag. If the button is broken it must be replaced off the motherboard. Make sure not to get any water into the device. Alternatively, you can just use the remote.
