The first step is to reboot the laptop. If keys cannot be used to reboot, hold the power button for 15 seconds to turn the laptop off. After the laptop has turned back on, see if the keyboard is working by checking if the LED light turns on when you press Numlock, Caps lock and scroll lock. If that does not work, press the Esc key repeatedly to see if a startup menu opens. If the keyboard is still not working after it is turned back on, then the keyboard is defective and needs to be replaced. See replacement guide

One method to fix this is to take out the key and see if there is anything under the key that is holding it in place. Another approach to solving this problem is using compressed air and spraying to see if there is any dirt in between or under the keys. A third approach would be to use a screwdriver to take the key out and clean the key, then put the key back on the keyboard.

Device gets too hot and shuts off. That is due to

Dust buildup can be fixed using a compressed air can. This can be done by gently using the compressed air can on the vent. Another fix is to physically open the laptop and remove the dust from the fans and vents. See Replacement Guide.

This can be fixed by replacing the cooling system in the laptop which mainly includes the fan. Replacing the thermal paste can also be a viable solution to the problem.

If all else fails research potential software issues/fixes and/or invest in a cooling fan.

Device randomly and unexpectedly turns off and on.

One possible cause of a laptop turning on and off multiple times would be the battery malfunctioning. The charger may not be working which could be due to its age or that the charger may be damaged.

A laptop can experience hardware malfunctions which would cause it to shut on and off multiple times. One approach to fixing this problem is to remove the hardware that can be removed (such as the USB drive and cameras) and then put each component back one at a time to see which one is faulty. Once the faulty device is figured out try to uninstall and then reinstall it, which should solve the problem.

Software failure can also cause the laptop to turn on and off as well. Multiple virus scanners can cause a laptop to repeatedly turn on and off. This can simply be fixed by removing it from the initial startup by using the Windows System Configuration tool.

The audio shows that sound should be playing, but no sound is heard, To fix this problem, reset the audio driver.

Connect to the internet. Click start and type Device Manager into the search bar. Double Click Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right-click the name of the audio device listed under Sound ,Video and Game Controllers. Select Update Driver Software. Click Search automatically for updated driver software. If a window opens that asks to restart the computer, restart the computer.

Test for sound. If sound problems persist or no drivers could be found and installed, continue updating the audio driver.

When using headphones, be sure that the headphone jack is plugged in completely, then test for sound.

Some applications may take a while to boot up when selected.

To fix this, try rebooting the computer, it may be trying to perform an update. If this does not work, close some background programs. To do so, press and hold the Ctrl and Alt keys then press delete. Click the Task Manager option. Select a program not currently in use and click End Process repeat with other programs.

If problems persist a factory reset may be required;

First, boot the computer. Next press F8 and hold until the system boots into Windows Advanced Boot Options. Then, select Repair Your Computer. Select a keyboard layout. Click Next. Login as an administrative user, Click OK. At the System Recovery Options window, select Startup Repair.

The laptop is plugged in, but not charging.

First, turn the laptop off then unplug the AC power from the battery and wait a few seconds. Next, turn the laptop back on, and if it does not turn on then the battery is faulty.
