My phone will not turn on

The phone is unresponsive when the power button on top of the phone is held for approximately 3 seconds.

The battery is not charged

Connect the phone to the charger and the charger to the wall or computer. If this results in a small red light at the top of the phone that is a positive indication that the battery was dead and the phone is now charging.

The battery is not properly installed

Check the battery by removing the back cover to make sure it is properly inserted in the phone. If this does not fix it you may need a new battery. The screen is dead

If the keypad lights up this is an indication that the phone is turning on, but that screen is unresponsive. The problem is a result of a faulty screen or screen backlight.

The power button is broken

If the power button appears to be stuck, the battery may be charged and the phone functional, but the button may be broken. Replacing the power button will fix this problem.

The motherboard is failing

Other person can’t hear me/microphone problems

While talking on the phone other people complain about not being able to hear me. I am having trouble hearing other people.

The phone is muted

Check to see if the microphone is muted and select the “unmute” button. If this does not resolve the issue, try using the physical mute button on the phone. If this also does not work, try replacing the physical mute button on the phone.

The phone is too far away from your face

Be conscious about where the phone is in relationship to your mouth as you are talking on the phone. Check to make sure it is relatively close to your mouth and that you speak up to help the other person hear you.

The phone is receiving a poor signal

Check the signal strength of the phone while you are in the middle of your call. If the strength is low, let the person you are trying to talk to know, then relocate to an area will a stronger signal, and call them again.

There is debris stuck in the microphone

Examine the microphone on the front of the phone. If you discover that it is filled with debris then carefully try to remove it from the outside.

Faulty microphone

If none of the above options solve your problem then consider that the microphone on your phone may be broken and replace it.

My phone will not charge

My phone is not responding when it is attached to the charger.

Faulty charger cable

Inspect the current cable for damage or exposed wiring. If you notice anything out of the ordinary properly dispose of that charger and attach the phone to a new/undamaged charging cable.

Faulty USB drive

The device that the charger currently is connected to may have a faulty USB drive. Try plugging the charger into the wall instead of a computer, or a carport, etc.

Clogged or damaged charger port

The charger port on the phone may be clogged or damaged. Inspect it for any inconsistencies. If you notice debris that is likely what is preventing the phone from charging. Carefully remove the debris and then connect the charger.

The battery runs low too quickly

The battery in my phone does not last as long as it did originally.

Screen brightness/screen timeout

Lowering the screen brightness and making the screen timeout time shorter will improve the battery life. The screen is the biggest source of energy usage; minimizing screen usage will improve battery life.

Turn off unused radios

Any radios not in usage, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, or any beam settings not in use. Unnecessary radio usage drains battery. Minimizing radio usage can improve battery time.

The battery is too old

Extreme temperatures

Extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures can draw excessive amounts of current in the phone. Keep the phone out extreme temperatures, out of the sunlight, and out of other weather conditions.

My phone’s screen is constantly black

My phone is on yet the screen is constantly black and there is no way to know what is happening on the phone.

Phone is frozen

The screen/phone make be frozen; fix this by attempting a hard or soft reset.

Soft reset: Attempt to activate a soft reset by removing the back case, removing the battery, and then putting the battery back in and the case back on. Then attempt to turn the phone on and use the screen. To do this follow the guide here: Palm Treo Pro Battery Replacement

Hard reset (WARNING: ALL DATA WILL BE LOST): Attempt to activate a hard reset by removing the back panel from the phone and using the stylus to press the reset button which is under where the stylus is kept. A loading bar on the Palm logo screen will appear. After the bar is completed, slide the back panel back into place. Then attempt to turn the phone on and use the screen.

The phone screen is broken

Insure that the phone is on, if the screen is still black then there is clearly an issue with the screen itself and therefore the screen needs to be replaced. Use this guide to replace it: Palm Treo Pro Display Glass Replacement

The backlight behind the screen has burnt out

Insure that the phone is on, if only a dark image appears on the screen then the backlight is out and will need to be replaced.

Faulty software

Plug a USB cable from your phone into your computer. If the computer does not recognize the phone, contact the service provider or original equipment manufacturer; there might be software issues that exist beyond the scope of this repair guide.

My touch screen is not working

My phone is on, yet the touch screen is unresponsive to my touch

Touch sensitivity

Frozen screen

The screen/phone may be frozen; fix this by attempting a hard or soft reset.

Broken touch screen
