Oral-B IO Series 6 Irregular Motor Vibration
When the toothbrush is vibrating it may make an odd noise, speed up and slow down continuously, or simply feel different. Follow through the potential causes and solutions below to fix this issue.
Loose Internal Component
On the inside of the brush an internal component may have loosened up or broken off from the inside of the toothbrush. This could interfere with the vibration of the motor and make noise. One of the easiest ways to diagnose this is by shaking the brush while it is off and listening for a small component shaking around the inside of the brush. To solve this, simply open the brush and pull off the outer casing, from here you should be able to remove the component. If the component is stuck inside of the motor, you may also have to detach the motor from the inside body of the brush in order to get it out.
Disconnection of the Motor
The motor is connected to the power supply by two internal wires. With normal use and wear these wires can loosen or disconnect causing motor malfunction. In order to fix this open the brush and pull off the outer casing, disconnect the motor carefully and check the two wire connections to the circuit board. If one, or both, of the wires are disconnected reconnect the wire(s) to the motor. The motor power connection has soldering on it, for the best connection this must be soldered back together, however you can optionally attach the connection by simply touching them together and allowing the tension held in the wire to keep them connected. However, this latter method increases chances of the disconnecting again and having to repeat this process.
Faulty Battery Connection
Vibration and use of the brush may adjust or shift the battery in a way that disrupts its connection to the board. Open the brush and pull of the outer casing. Remove the battery and firmly press it back into its holding.
Faulty Battery
Like all batteries, they lose their power over time. Open the brush and pull of the outer casing. Remove the current battery and replace with a new one. [Placeholder battery replacement link]
Faulty Motor
The motor has a limited lifespan and will degrade over time, improper usage can speed up this process. Open the brush and pull of the outer casing. Detach the motor and replace it with the new motor. Ensure all of the connections are fastened and the power wires are correctly fed from the power source to the motor. [Placeholder motor replacement link]
