Oral-B IO Series 6 Smell or Mold
The toothbrush may have an odor or even visible mold or discoloration. Follow the possible problems and solutions below to solve this.
Exterior Growth or Odor
The toothbrush comes in contact with a lot of water and biological matter, which is an excellent breeding ground for odor causing biological growth. Detach the head of your brush and using a scrubbing material, warm water, and soap, scrub the exterior of the brush thoroughly. Rinse the brush and allow to dry in a dry area.
Expired Toothbrush Head
Over time the toothbrush head can promote growth of bacteria, there are also many crevasses that can fill with water while brushing and not properly dry. The head is also meant to be replaced due to this, simply detach the head of your brush, clean the area that connects the head to body, let dry, and replace with a new head.
Interior Growth or Odor
The waterproofing of the toothbrush internals is not perfect and some moisture can build up on the inside promoting growth and odor. Open up the brush and pull off the exterior casing. Gather all of the plastic casings and components, do not include any mechanical or electronic components. Scrub the interior with warm water and soap. Allow to dry, make sure all of the components are in a dry area. When reassembling, make sure that all of the seals are properly sealed and the casing contains no cracks or holes.
