MSI FORCE GC30 V2 Troubleshooting
Bluetooth not connecting
Your controller turns on but will not connect via Bluetooth.
Bluetooth disabled
Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your device. You will need to connect the controller to your device via USB to initiate connection.
Firmware out of date
Make sure you have installed the latest update. You may need to connect your device manually through a USB connection to update.
Analog Stick Drifting
Your analog stick registers movement even when it is not being touched or movement may be drastically different to intended movement.
Joystick Dirty
Controllers naturally gain a buildup of grime, whether from food or drink, sweat from your hands, or other sources, making cleaning necessary. To clean the joysticks, you will need a Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. Lightly soak the Q-tip in isopropyl alcohol and gently dab it into the casing of the joystick. You will need to rotate the joystick so that the isopropyl alcohol can clean properly, rotating the joystick a few times both clockwise and counterclockwise should do the trick.
Calibration
Some gaming consoles and PC platforms allow you to calibrate your controller. Check the settings menu and recalibrate the analog stick to see if that resolves the problem.
Deadzone Adjustment
Many games have deadzone settings that can be adjusted. Increasing the dead zone can help mitigate minor stick drift issues by ignoring small, unintended movements.
Buttons Sticking/Not Detecting Input
With use, the controller may become dirty or faulty so that the buttons may stick or will not provide input.
Dirty Controller
Follow the beginning instructions here: LINK in order to gain access to the internals. Remove dirt, dust, oil, and sweat from controller. Clean your controller with Q-tips and isopropyl alcohol. Avoid eating snacks and drinking liquids around your controller, to prevent spills and crumbs getting on controller. Wash hands to prevent stickiness and excess oils from getting on the controller. Place controller in clean and dust free environment.
Broken Buttons
If after cleaning the controller the issue still persists, then it is likely something inside the controller is broken. A visual inspection is needed to determine if it is the buttons themselves or the motherboard. If the buttons are visibly broken, follow the ABXY button replacement guide.
Broken Motherboard
If during your visual inspection the motherboard is damaged, then follow the motherboard replacement guide.
Triggers and Bumpers Sticking / Not Detecting Input
Controllers can collect dirt and grime or may become damaged with use that may interrupt performance, especially if the device is exposed to food and drink.
Dirty Springs/Contacts
Follow LINK to open controller to gain access to the internals of the trigger and bumper systems. With a Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol (highest percentage possible) clean the spring and contact connecting the affected part to the motherboard (you may need to repeat this step several times depending on the severity of buildup). Once cleaned re-assemble the controller and try the triggers and bumpers.
Broken Parts
If cleaning the contacts and springs has no effect, then there is likely a broken piece in the mechanism, you may conduct a visual test to determine where the damage is. If the trigger(s)/bumper(s) is visually damaged, then follow the trigger and bumper replacement guide here LINK.
Damaged Motherboard
If the trigger(s)/bumper(s) are undamaged then the motherboard is likely damaged and needs replacing. Follow the motherboard replacement guide here LINK.
Controller Not Turning On
The controller is not turning on with a press of a button.
Low Battery Capacity
The battery life has a capacity of eight hours and takes two to three hours to fully charge. Plug the controller with the provided connecting cable and make sure it is charging by checking the LED indicators on the controller's center. All four LEDs should flash to indicate charging, and if the battery is low on charge the LED’s will flash depending on what mode the controller is set on as shown in the owner's manual. Once the controller is fully charged the LED’s will stay solid.(This link is a copy of the MSI FORCE GC30 V2 owner guide.)MSI FORCE GC30 V2 owner guide
Broken/Bricked Battery
If the battery still does not work after the above fix, then it is likely broken. In this event you will have to replace it with a new battery. Follow the battery replacement guide here: LINK
